The Family Affluence Scale gives an indication of the social status of children and young people’s families. The scale is derived from a series of questions about their home and family such as car ownership, computers, and foreign holidays. Care should be taken when looking across year groups as the age of the child is likely to impact on certain elements of the scale (e.g. families with older children may be more likely to own digital devices and travel abroad).

Select Family Affluence Scale, to see the results split by the affluence level of the children and young people’s families (Please note this excludes data for 2020-21 and 2021-22 due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the ability to take holidays).

Select Free School Meals, to see results for those who do and those who do not receive free school meals.

Select Disability to look at results either by those who have a disability or a long term limiting impairment.

Select school establishment, to see results for those who those who go to academy, independent and maintained schools.

Select Single sex schools, to see results for those who those who go to single sex or co-educational schools.

Select this category to see results based on children and young people’s perceived access to various outdoor spaces for exercise or play.

The Inequalities Metric identifies which characteristics have the most impact on minutes of activity and recognises the intersectionality of these characteristics. Further information can be found on the Focus on inequalities page.
